I've bought a gift that looks like a gun but it is kitchen equipment! Can I take out of China?

Its a blow torch, i've emptied all the gas out of it, its a gift for my step father he loves cooking, i didn't actually realise it looks a little like a gun until after buying it! Well it is definitley not a gun but it blows fire. I have emptied the gas out of it, so now it it just an empty shell really. Can I put it in my checked luggage? Flying from Shanghai Pu Dong. Thanks

To make sure your passing immigration smoothly, it is best to mail it home. Or you can take a risk in passing immigration with that as check-in luggage. Maybe because of it being out of gas, it can pass the customs smoothly.
