About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

going to china for a week ( about 8 days)

My nationality is Australian and I'm in Japan with a tourist visa studying in Japan. I went to the Chinese embassy yesterday and they said I needed a letter of invitation and a photocopy of an ID. Is it really necessary to get a letter of invitation. And the photocopy of the ID, is that my ID I need to provide as well or is it the ID of the person writing the letter of invitation.

Hi, what is the purpose of your visit? if you are going to visit your friend or family, an invitation letter is required as well as a copy of inviter's Chinese ID.

Thanks for the information you have provided to me. I am planning to visit my relatives. I will write the invitation letter myself. Is there anything specific I need to write down on the invitation letter

But the letter should issued by any of your relatives, with details as follows:
a) Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)

b) Information on the visit (purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place of intended residence, relations between the applicant and the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.)

c) Information on the inviting individual (name, contact telephone number, address, signature, etc.)
