About:China Work Visa

Existing American company with presence in China

I work for a global American company and I work remotely. I plan to get married to a Chinese Citizen and we want to live in PRC, permanently. My company agreed that I can work there. What would be my circumstance as far as visa and Residency? Thanks, Mike

Mike, it's too difficult for a foreigner to acquire his/her permanent resident permit in PRC. I think you can stay in PRC as long as you still work here with your resident permit for employment. And you can extend or renew your resident permit 30 days in advance before it expires.

Would my American company need to sponsor me? They have an office in Shanghai but I will be living and working (remotely) in Tianjin with my wife and her family.

Yes, your company office in Shanghai should be responsible to issue you an invitation letter, and get work permit from relevant department in China for your work Z application.
