About:Visa Policy of China

Can I get Chinese visa in Saudi to save me having to return to UK to get one, maximum 1 month or more?

I think you can just give it a try but I don't know if you will succeed or not. According to the latest entry and exit administration law, those who apply in the third country or region must submit their resident permit for employment or study, or valid visa (both original and copy versions) together with other required documents. You might contact the embassy before you go there to submit your application.
