About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Resident Permit at the PSB with my Chinese wife

I want to resign from my job, but i need to stay with my wife and kids of course, so I am in PRC and in my wifes province of where her Hukou ID is from..

I heard my Chinese wife and I can walk into the PSB and get a resident permit for me and the kids, But what about my Resident working permit? It isn't finished yet, I did get my release letter. I want to get a resident permit under my wife. Can and will the PSB cancel the work permit and give us a resident permit under my wife? My company said they can't do anything else and canceling the work permit is too difficult, so they told me to keep it. I can't leave my wife alone, I must stay.

I think you can still use your resident permit for working if it isn't expired but you can't work with it again unless you find a new employer and renew your work permit and resident permit. If you don't plan to work again, you can apply for the Q1 type from the local entry and exit administration bureau, which will turn into the temporary resident permit after you get Q1 within one month. If you get resident permit for family reunion (Q1), I think your resident permit for working will automatically expire.

Anyway, you should confirm this with local entry and exit administration bureau and remember to apply for Q1 one month in advance before your current one expires.
