Do you hold passport of PRC? If so, I think you should apply for entry permit from Chinese embassy in Singapore before you go to HK. If your itinerary is HK-Macau-HK (or other countries), you won't apply for any special entry permit or visa for Macau.

Yes, I am currently holding to a Chinese Passport. So it means that I would have to apply for one before even going to Hongkong? Thanks in advance for your advise.

According to the rule, you should apply for the entry permit before you go there. If you have connecting air ticket for next destination, you needn't apply for the entry permit and can stay there for 7 days at most.
