Round train ticket Guangzhou - Hong Kong

Hi,
We would like to visit Hong Kong for one day while we are staying in Guangzhou. Would you tell me what train station we are supposed to use in both cities and how much is the return ticket. Also, do we need to make a reservation in advance or just buy a ticket at the station on the day we are traveling.
