About:China Tourist Visa

the round trip booking

when it says you need round trip booking does that mean in order to get a tourist visa i have to enter and exit from the same place. or can i enter in Beijing and exit in Hong Kong? if i have to buy round trip tickets, would getting a invitation letter be best for this situation?

No, you don't have to exit from the same place. The immigration of Mainland China and HK are separated, actually you need to exit Mainland China and then enter HK. You can enter in Beijing then exit in Shenzhen, for example, then take metro, cross-boundary bus, train or travel to HK easily. An invitation letter saves troubles.
