About:China Work Visa

Have been offered a position in China and would like to know can I apply for a Z-Visa in Japan.

I am a USA Citizen traveling in Japan on a tourist type.

I think so. However, you should come to the embassy or consulate and apply in person. Apart from the required documents for Z type, you should provide the copy of your entry record in Japan.
