L versus S2 visa question?

My 18yo daughter (Aust) plans to visit her uncle (Aust working in China) for 6mths. She plans to travel to Macau and Hong Kong during the time she is in China. Should she apply for an S2 or an L?

She should apply for a double entry L type at least if she plans to leave mainland China for HK and Macau. Or she can visit HK and Macau first and then a single entry L is ok.
