About:China Visa

Validity of F Visa (business)

Hello, last summer I entered China on a multiple entry F type (now M) in order to temporarily work with a company on business development. This past week, my company and I decided to prematurely end our business relationship, which means I am now free to leave PRC. However, I would not like to do so yet because I have a pending and previously planned trip to Australia departing from Beijing at the end of January that cannot be changed. Nonetheless, I am worried that because my business relationship has ended, my visa could be revoked and I could be compelled to leave before I can depart for Australia. Would it be possible for me to remain in Beijing until my trip? For your information, my permits for multiple entries and allows for stays of up to 120 days each. For my current stay, I am not required to leave PRC until early February. Please advise.

In fact, you already violated the rules since you were not allowed to work with original F type for business. Luckily, no one reported you to the authorities. In order to work in PRC legally, a Z type one is a must.

Personally, I think you can stay in PRC if your F type is still valid. If you are still worried, you can go to HK first, stay there for a while and apply for a L type for your trip from Beijing to Australia. The USA citizens enjoy 90 days visa period in HK.
