About:China Family Reunion Visa

L extension without leaving

i came to china in july 2013 with Lvisa duration of 30 days stay to visit my chinese wife and i extended my L to 180days without leaving the country but now it is again soon going to be expired in jan 2014 .so i was wandering that if i can again extend it for 1yr or 6mth or get resident permit for 1yr without having to exit china

I am afraid not, because there were changes on this from Sept.1 2013. Now you have to leave and apply for the new Q type. If you want to stay longer than 6 months, you need Q1 and change it to residence permit within 30 days after entry.

Hi You can visit your nearest PSB and change the L into Q without leaving china. I did that last of November and no problem at all. if you apply for Q2 then need 7 working days at leadt before your visa expiration and Q1 30 days at least before your current one will expired as well.
