About:China Transit Visa

I am travelling from Sydney to Vienna, stopping in Bejing and Shanghai on the way. Do I need a visa?

The booking confirmation mentions that because there is inter-China travel involved, I need to check if I need one. Both Bejing and Shanghai are transit stops only. What kind, if any, do I need to apply for? I live in Australia but hold an Austrian passport.

Yes, you need to apply for a G type (transit one) in advance before you go to PRC.
