About:China Student Visa

Visa X2

I currently hold a M business visa. And I am living in China.
If I enroll into college for a semester starting in january do I have to exit the country to change my visa to an X2?
Also can I get a resident permit that would allow me to travel outside of the borders with an X2 only valid for 6 months?

Yes, you need to exit and apply for an X2 for study. It is not necessary to apply for residence permit holding X2. If you plan to travel to other countries, you can try to apply for a double entry or multiple entry X2.
