Visa requirement for HK and UK citizen travelling to mainland China

My wife and I were born in HK and have HK ID card and UK passport, and my son has a UK only as he's born in the UK. We live in the UK and plan to visit HK next month and also mainland China, what would be the visa requirement for the three of us and which is the quickest way to obtain for each of us if required?

It's no problem for your visit in HK. But you all should apply for the L type for your trip to mainland China. You'd better apply from the CVASC branch in your country before you go.
