Jinshanling in winter

Will there still be buses/tours going to this part of the wall in winter time. We are going in Early Jan.

Yes. The buses to Jinshanling Great Wall are available in winter. You may take bus heading to Chengde at Dongzhimen bus terminus and get off at Jinshanling Intersection or Gubeikou, then take a taxi to the wall.

Thank you for that info. Would you recommend Simatai or Jinshanling to look at in Jan. also is there a high chance that it will snow? If so will it be basically impossible to explore the wall?

As far as I know, Simatai Great Wall has still been closed and I am not sure whether it will reopen in Jan or not. You may visit Jinshanling section instead. The weather in Beijing is fine these days. It is not suggested to explore the wall if there is a heavy snow in Jan as it is very dangerous and the wall might be closed due to the bad weather.
