About:China Family Reunion Visa

Chinese Visa for visiting family.

Me, my wife and our 10month old daughter are traveling to China to visit my wife's family for 5 weeks. Me and my daughter are US citizens while my wife is a Chinese citizen with a US greencard. Would me and my daughter want to apply for a Q-type? Are there any benefits to this as opposed to a normal L-type? If we wanted to come back to visit in a year could we still use the Q, is that a benefit of having one? Thanks so much, my wife doesn't know much about her country's rules.

Apply The Q visa if you intend to stay in china for more than 5 weeks then you apply the Q2 but base to my experienced, this Q2 you must better apply for multiple entry if you choose for 6 months validity, as the 6 months having a 60 days duration of stay everytime you have an entry. if 3 months validity one you choose then double entry is fine .I am here as a spouse, converted my L to Q2 inside china but you must be aware of your duration of stay ,as the new rule even your a spouse married to a chinese your obliged to exit and re entry unlike before that the spouse can avail whatever type they need with whatever entry they acquire even without doing any exit .

But if you wish to stay longer for more than 6 months you can apply for Q1 and then when you arrive you apply for residence permit so that you have no restriction of how many entry or exit you may wish to do till the validity of your residence permit.

Hi Chris,

The residence pemit allowed you to stay till the residence permit validity time, no duration of stay required, your free to enter and exit within the residence permit validity period. But if you wish to continue it then you need to renew it, the processing time is 15 working days.

Before can avail 2 years residence permit, but as new rule they said you can avail the residence permit in a minimum of 90 days till 5 years. But almost who applied for residence permit as a spouse avail it 1 year and renewable. That permit is favorable to you espescially if your travelling in and out or you dont wish to go out so frequent as no limit or duration of stay need to observe. Hope it can help, anyways you can inquire the chinese embassy in your place for more concrete and precise details.
