About:China Transit Visa

Australian wanting a Visa for shanghai while in Berlin

I am an Australian citizen currently in Berlin and do not have residence here. I want to stop over in Shanghai for one week on my return to Australia but am told I cannot apply for it whole in Berlin ?

Yes, this is true because you are not a resident in Berlin. However, if you just tranist via Shanghai, you are allowed to stay for up to 72 hours without visa with a confirmed ticket leaving to Australia.
