About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Transit for > 8 hours in Guangzhou for Indonesian Passport.

I'm an Indonesian Passport holder and will be returning to Perth from LA with China South Airlines. The flight will transit in Guangzhou for more than 8 hours. Do I need to apply a visa to take the transit hotel provided by the airlines? Thanks.

No, you can apply for a stay permit after arrival at the airport.
