Soft sleeper Vs Hard Sleeper

What's the difference between soft sleeper and hard sleeper? Are they numbered? Are they quad sharing?

a hard sleeper compartment is semi-open and has six berths, upper, middle, and lower berths.
sort sleeper compartment has a door, and has four berths, upper, and lower.

all the berths are numbered.
