if i understand correct, i can apply for the visa in odessa?

I am a legal permanent resident of Ukraine/Mexican citizen. I would like to visit my Chinese friend for the holidays this winter. Do I need to buy the air tickets in advance of applying for it?  For how long can tourist L be issued for...and can they be multiple entry, for example a year long and you can come and go as you wish to visit friends?Thanks,GeorgePS:  What are your working hours during the week in Odessa?

Yes, you need to provide flight ticket and hotel bookings for application as tourist. But you can also provide an invitation letter from your friend instead as well as copies of his Chinese ID. Generally, a tourist L is valid for 3 months with 30 days as the duration of stay. If you visit for the first time, it is impossible for you to get a multiple entry L.  Working hours: 09:00 - 11:30, Monday, Wednesday, Friday (except holidays)

Thank you, can I just clarify that the letter from my friend inviting me to visit is just a hand written letter?  Does it need to be notarized or anything.  Likewise do the copies of my friends ID cards from China need to be certified copies or anything like that?  If I get these emailed to me will that be ok or do you need originals?Thanks again!

Invitation letter with signature of the inviting individual is ok. Invitation letter in the form of fax, photocopy or computer printout is acceptable, but the consular officer may require the original if they deem it necessary.
