Visa application: How detailed must my itinerary be?

I have my flight to Beijing booked plus a hotel there for 3 nights; then I intend to visit Xi'an; then my son studying in Kunming. After a few days there I intend to go to Hong Kong and then Sydney, Aus.

Apart from Beijing and the flight from HK nothing else is booked - can I be that flexible please or must I make and pay for all transit/hotels before applying?

Hi, it is not necessary to provide tickets and hotel bookings for the whole trip. Your flight ticket to Beijing, hotel bookings there and the ticket from HK are enough for tourist L application. But be aware that you can just put Beijing as the city planed to visit in the application form.
