3rd Country Minimum Stay Requirement

Is there a minimum requirement of how long I must stay in the 3rd country?
In other words, can I visit China for 72 hours if I arrive from USA and depart to Japan, but only stay in Japan for a few hours to connect to another flight? Thanks!

It is ok, only if you have a confirmed ticket leaving within 72 hours from China.
