Have visa on old system , but now I require Q1/Q2 ?

I applied and got my L (2 entries / 60 days）before the new system started.
I have got married in China and I am currently staying here.
I want to live here with my wife and not return to UK.
How and what type do I need to apply for ?
I have just obtained medical check certificate and have also registered my current adress with the local police station.
Someone mentioned it would be easier applying and re-applying everu 6 months for a Q2 rather than applying for a Q1 that lasts for 1yr/2yr+ ?
