About:Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka

certificate needs to be notarised- wife's visa

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am British national and working in the UK. I have been offered a Job in China.

My wife is Sri Lankan and we got married in Sri Lanka. To apply for my wife’s visa our marriage certificate needs to be notarised by the Chinese embassy. However, when I inquired about this from the Chinese embassy in the UK, they asked me get the notarisation done from the Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka as it is a Sri Lankan marriage certificate. I have already got an English version of the marriage certificate and legalised from the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Sri Lanka.

Since, we are currently living in the UK we are unable to come to Sri Lanka to get this notarised. Do I or my wife have to be in-person to get these notarised? Or can I send someone on behalf of me with the original marriage certificate to Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka to get these notarised?

Or can I get mine from the Chinese embassy in the UK and my wife’s from the Chinese embassy in the Sri Lanka. My employer feels that all the visas for me and my family has to be applied from the same embassy.

Your advice on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Kind regards,

Prabhu

Hi Prabhu, as I know, the embassy does not accept mail appliction. But they do not require personal appearance as well. So, you can try to send it to her family, and ask them to handle this application. That is true that you need to apply together in the same embassy because you will share invitation letter from your company for application.
