About:Dual Nationality

How to give up a nationality? How can one automatically lose a naltionality?

It is not clear to me how one can lose nationality automatically. Do countries send memos to each other concerning this. Or can one hold on to its original nationality for extented period without being exposed?

I just know if someone has successfully applied for the citizenship of another country, it means that he has given up the Chinese citizenship.

Thanks. I think there should be a formal procedure for doing so. It is not a light matter to lose one's identity. Many acquires a new nationality out of practical issues. If, before one is allowed for pledging allegiance to another country, one is forced to renounce his original country, there might be less such cases. It will make more people wanting to have the PUT instead. it is a catch 22.
