I have a friend who works with the Liberian Embassy in China and is willing to host me also. Kindly let me know the procedure for obtaining a visiting visa.

Yes, sure. Invitation letter from your host is required for this visit, as well as copies of his/her passport and Chinese residence permit. You are suggested to contact the embassy directly for more information.
