About:China Visa Exemption

Can I be given a 72 hours visa free stay in Beijing if I go to Hong Kong via Beijing?

I am a UK citizen and need to go to Hong Kong for business. Can anyone tell me which of the following route can give me a 72 hours visa free stay in Beijing?

1. return trip UK-Beijing-Hongkong
2. return trip UK-Hongkong-Beijing
3. UK-Beijing-Hongkong and then Hongkong-UK

The return trip UK-Beijing-Hongkong is fine, and you can use this 72 hours free transit both ways.
