travelling without passport

Question

Can i travel using trains without having a passport? PSB office took it from me for visa change, and they dont want to give me yellow card which confirms that i handed it to them. They say its too early. I have a registration form of temporary residence . There is a passport number included.I bought ticket for my train to chengdu and i dont know if i can use it. Please help

I am afraid not, passport is required to but train tickets. the registration form of temporary residence is not acceptable as I know.
