what to see in guangzhou

I have a 9 hour layover on the 25th of November and was planning on taking a quick trip into the city while I'm there. What are the top 3 things I should definitely do or see? I do not speak a word of Chinese. Is it easy to get around on the public transport for tourists? Or would I be better off taking a taxi.

Chen Clan Academy, Sun Yat-sen Memorial and Yuexiu Park are the top 3 things that you should see. You can travel with local transportation methods easily, because most of the direction boards in the city are written in both Chinese and English. Taxi is not necessary and the cost is high if using taxi.
