About:China Visa Exemption

72 hours Canton visit side trip via Hong Kong.

I have a US passport. I am planning a trip from US to Hong Kong and back to US. While I am in Hong Kong, do I need to get a China visa to take a side trip to visit Canton for less than 72 hours? On this Canton side trip, I will travel from Canton back to Hong Kong before returning back to the US.

If you visit from HK to Ganton then back to HK again, you should apply for a Chinese visa in advance. The 72 hour free transit does not apply to this visit.
