Is that really true that the 72 hrs transit only start when you got your permit at the airport?

Base on our arrival and departure time, there is 72 hrs and 15 mins in between. So I just wondering if that is OK. Because the airline said it's not OK. When actually does the permit start to count. Please help!

Different airlines may have different standard. It is true that some of them counts the 72 hours from the tickets about the scheduled landing and departure. Maybe they just do not want to risk taking you back in case you are refused entry or the free transit.

Thank you, I have called the airline to reconfirm, they said they won't let us in. So we might apply for the visa or change to a later flight.
