About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

Can I use 72 hours visa free transit going on a cruise starting in Beijing flying in from Toronto?

I am Canadian and my cruise starts in Beijing and will also visit Shanghai for 13 hours.
Can I use the 72 hours free transit status?
Or, do I need entry visa or G?
If so, how much and how long will it take to get it?

You should apply for a transit G type in advance. Because the free transit applies to air passengers only transiting directly via PEK. The normal processing time is 4 working days. Fee should be CAD 81.5.
