About:China Customs Declaration

Currency in Cash (USD) allowed for inbound passengers

I have read and understood as per China Customs, Inward Passengers can carry upto 5000 USD Cash without declaration. My question is if I am travelling with my family, wife and 8 years old child, how much would be our total limit for carrying USD Cash? Will it still be 5000 USD or 10000 USD for me and my wife or they consider my 8 years old child and allow me to carry upto 15000 USD in Cash?

Another question is for one inward passenger, can he carry 5000 USD Cash and another 5000 USD Travel Cheques and enter China without declaration?

As I know, in the regulation about bringing in cash, they don't mention child. But to ensure your trip without any problem, 10,000USD is suggested to be taken in. As for Travel Cheques, there is no limitation for the value. You can take in as much as you wanna. In case of more expenses, you can take along your bank cards or credict cards.

I don't know the reason for carrying that amount of cash with you, but i've been living off my bank atm card while in china. I know that my bank has an alliance with china construction bank that provides no extra charges for withdrawls. Maybe you want to see if your bank has aggreement with banks in china
