I'm an American citizen. Can I get a Visa when I arrive in Shanghai by sailboat or do I need to get it before?

Is there anchorage for sailboats? Where can I get information on anchorage for sailboats in SH?

If your stay in SH is longer than 24 hours, you need to apply for a Chinese visa in advance. If for a short visit within 24 hours, you are exempted from visa.
