About:China Consulate in Houston

I already have a current visa to travel to China's mainland

but want to fly into Hong Kong and then take the train to Shenzhen. Do I need a Hong Kong visa or is my other one okay?

It is ok, because you are allowed free entry to HK for a stay of 90 days. So, you can fly into HK first, then take train to Shenzhen when the Chinese tourist L is required.
