About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does this mean I need to obtain a visa? I will be there for two days.

Hi,
I am a UK resident and I am flying to shanghi on the 27th of August from the united states.I leave shanghi on the 29th August. Thank you.

I don't think you need one. If you have valid travel document for your destination and the air-ticket, you can apply for the 72 hours free transit in Beijing.

You needn't do it online. Just tell your airline at least 30 minutes in advance before your plane to land at the airport. Then you can apply for it at the airport.
