There are two types of Q, which are all for family reunion. Q1 is a long term one (over 180 days) issued to the family members of the Chinese citizens or foreigners who have pemanent residence permit in PRC, or people who come to PRC for adoption. Q2 is a short term one (less than 180 days) issued to the family members of Chinese citizens or foreigners who have permanent residence permit in China.
There are also two types of S. S1 is a long term type issued to the spouses, the parents and parents-in-law, and children (under 18 years old) of the foreigners who study or work in PRC or other people who come to PRC for personal reasons. S2 is a short term one issued to the people mentioned above for S1.
Both L, S and Q are issued to the applicants according to their purpose of coming to PRC.
