I'm not too sure what they mean by "letter of invitation". I want to apply for a tourist visa.

Please advise.

Hi, it means an Invitation Letter for Tourist by a Duly Authorized Tourism Unit if you book any tour package to China. If you travel individually, you can provide round-trip flight ticket and hotel bookings for your application.
