About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Coming to mainland China as a student and then working in HK for five months. Wich visa should I apply for?

I have just received my letter of acceptance from a Chinese university. They tell me to get a L type and change to a student type when I arrive due to time crunch. I plan on working in Hong Kong for 5 months before I return yet I would live in Shenzhen. I will be buying a one way ticket because I do not know my exact departure date and will be staying in China for 1 year. The tourist visa requires a round trip ticket verification. Is there any way around this?

Thank you!

If you are apply for the L, you might ask your school or friends in China to send you an invitation letter. Then you needn't provide the round-trip air tickets and hotel booking in China. If you plan to work in Hk, you need to apply for the Hong Kong work visa from the HK Department directly or the office of the HKSAR in Beijing.
