You can enjoy 72 hours free visit at Beijing airport. I think you won't have a problem if you want to visit the city when you get there. Remember to inform your airline at least 30 minutes before the plane lands.

Thanks

Strangely Singapore airlines customer service told me that they have nothing to do with it.. my understanding from what i've read..is that i have to wait to be at the counter for my flight before ask the 72 hrs permit.or at least 30 minutes before the arrival on Bejing flight....right..

Hi Jacques, it is not necessary to do this for such a short stopover (China has Free transit rule for stopover less than 24 hours). If you want to go out of the airport, just apply for a free stay permit after arrival with your passport and ticket for leaving.
