Transiting to Beijing and Shanghai with VOA?

Hi

Is it possible to book a ticket from France to Beijing (48 hours) then Shanghai (48 hours) and go back to France or should I fly to HK (for example) between Beijing and Shanghai ?

Do we need to advise the airline at booking time or when checking in?

Thanks a lot & regards

Hi, if you fly France-Beijing-Shanghai-France, it is a return trip actually. You need to apply for a Chinese visa for this visit. If you intend to use 72 hour free transit, then you have to fly with following itinerary suggested: France-Beijing-HK, and another one HK-Shanghai-France, so that you are allowed to stay freely for 72 hours both in Beijing and Shanghai. In order to use this free transit, you need to inform your airline in advance.
