Non Revenue Travel To China

I am an airline employee planning to travel from the U.S. with my family. Can we obtain a tourist visa without confirmed airline tickets since we would be traveling on standby and would not be confirmed until the day of the flight.

I am afraid not, confirmed ticket is required, or at least you shall try to provide document to show your status as an airline employee.
