About:China Visa Exemption

clarification on 72 hours without visa.

I read your article but it really confused me. First of all, I am holding a Canadian pasaport. I am thinking to travel mainland PRC via HK by land to visit a relative. Does it mean those 72 hours rule apply to land as well or I still need to apply for one in advance?

You need to apply in advance if you visit by land. The 72 hr free transit policy applies to air passengers only via Beijing and Shanghai from Jan.1st 2013, and Guangzhou from August 1st 2013.
