MOVING AROUND BEIJING WITHOUT JOINING A TOUR GROUP

Is it convenient to travel around BJ without joining a tour group. I intend to travel with my husband and we wish to move around that city on our own to places using either the taxi or the rail. Is it safe? Will taxis be available at the tourist attraction places?

Please do not worry. It is very easy to travel around the city without a tour group and it is very safe to use the local public transportation system.
The taxis are available at the tourist attraction places.
