About:China Work Visa

Can anyone tell me what the current (2013) medical exam requirement is for 'Z' visas?

This has been hilariously difficult to pin down, both on the Chinese and the United States' sides....Thank-you for your help!!!

I did the medical exam in Shanghai in March. It's like an assembly line where you shuffle from room to room for each step. Consisted of Chest x-ray, ekg, ultrasound on liver, other organs, a blood test. Pretty basic stuff, but strange choices. Everyone I know has done it here. Some less than optimal results but passed through anyway. Takes about a week to get results.
Hope this helps!

Thanks, so you were not required to take the physical in the States before you came to China? Is that the case for all States?

Hi Chris, as I know, a physical check is required becuase your future employer needs it to get work permit and official invitation letter from relevant department. After entry with the work Z, you should do a physical check again when you apply for residence permit.

Oh, so 2 exams are required? One before departing and one to get the residency permit?

Thanks!
