31 days independent train travel in central and Eastern China

I am planning to travel independently around central and eastern China. I am intending to do this by a combination of train journeys, starting and ending in Shanghai. I plan to use C,D,G,K,T and other trains. How can I best book the seats/sleepers, preferably before I leave Australia. How do I best receive the tickets.
