US Citizens Obtaining Chinese Visas in the Philippines

We are vacationing in the Philippines soon and we plan to visit China from there. Can we then get our visas there too? How soon can we get them? I mean, how many days do we have to wait for it to be processed?

It is not suggested if you can apply in advance in USA. Because the embassy there may refuse applications from temporary visitors. The regular processing time for application worldwide is about 4 working days, and expedited is available if you need.
