Hi, Guangzhou was approved to carry out 72 hr free transit, but the fact is that the Guanghzou Baiyun Airport have not been ready for this. As I know, it only allows 24 hr free transit currently. You can wait and maybe it will be ready soon. You can also try to contact the airport directly at 86-20-36066950 for the latest information.

Hi Laurent
Many thanks for your reply. My Scottish values lean towards, "I do not want to pay for something i do not need", it seems that I may have to buy a multiple entry L.
Guangzhou current status appears that, "We have the technology but not the intent"!!
I will try the airport number you have kindly given or alternatively, try the China Consulate in Edinburgh.
However many thanks for your time and advice
