About:Visa Policy of China

entries needed if we plan to visit Macao.

We have a single entry visa, and we are thinking to entry by Nanning. If we go to Macau, does it mean we need a second visa to re entry to China?

Yes, you are right. Leaving for Macau counts an exit and you need one more entry if you want to enter mainland again.
